Job Title: Parts Manager

Salary Range: $75k to $95k based on experience
Position Summary:
The Parts Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Parts Department, including inventory management, team leadership, customer service, vendor relations, and departmental profitability. This role ensures the right parts are available to support customer and service needs while driving operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and revenue growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong inventory management experience, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced dealership environment.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership, direction, and development for the Parts Department team while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Recruit, train, mentor, coach, and evaluate department personnel to support employee growth and succession planning.
- Establish performance expectations and ensure team members are meeting departmental and company objectives.
- Promote a safe, productive, and customer-focused work environment.
Parts Operations & Inventory Management
- Oversee all daily parts department operations to ensure efficient workflows and exceptional support for internal and external customers.
- Establish and maintain appropriate inventory stocking levels based on customer demand, equipment population, seasonal trends, and business objectives.
- Monitor inventory performance, including inventory turns, fill rates, lost sales, stock orders, and obsolete inventory.
- Lead and coordinate cycle counts and annual physical inventories to maintain inventory accuracy and accountability.
- Collaborate with other dealership locations to coordinate inventory availability, transfers, and purchasing strategies.
Sales, Customer Service & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Drive parts sales growth through customer retention, business development, and strategic sales initiatives.
- Develop and execute departmental sales and marketing plans to increase revenue and market share.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by resolving issues promptly and supporting customer needs.
Financial Performance & Vendor Relations
- Manage departmental performance to achieve or exceed revenue, gross profit, inventory, and budget objectives.
- Review department performance metrics regularly and implement action plans to improve results.
- Utilize available purchasing programs, discounts, and vendor incentives to maximize profitability.
- Negotiate and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to support operational and inventory needs.
- Monitor customer receivables and ensure compliance with company credit and collections policies.
Warranty, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Oversee all warranty, return, and vendor claim processes to ensure timely submissions and maximum recovery of credits.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer requirements, inventory control procedures, and safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve departmental processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and customer service levels.
- Maintain department equipment, vehicles, and facilities in a safe, organized, and professional condition.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with service, operations, sales, and leadership teams to support dealership objectives and improve the overall customer experience.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned to support business operations.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of leadership experience in a parts department, dealership environment, or inventory management role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of parts operations, inventory control, purchasing, vendor management, warranty administration, and customer service practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive operational results.
- Experience managing departmental budgets, financial performance, inventory investments, and profitability metrics.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems, inventory software, Microsoft Office, and related business applications.
- Knowledge of transport refrigeration, heavy-duty truck, diesel, fleet, or dealership parts operations preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
